Project Meeting on workplan

During the December school holidays, our group had managed to come up with our project topic which is the Mayans Civilisation as mentioned in the previous post. After a few days, we then had another project meeting in school again and started to focus in our project workplan. As we all had busy schedule when school reopened, we thought that it was best to start to have a project workplan first so that we would know exactly what to do to ensure proficiency.

One week before school holiday ended, we met up and assigned group roles. After some discussion, we had managed to distribute our work evenly with the four group members. Here are our group dynamics which we had discussed in the meeting:

• Li Wen (Researcher): The Mayans’ contributions to our world:
  
  
  I. Inventions
  II. Astronomy
  III. Mathematics
  
  
  
  - how it affected our history and/or the modern world?
  
  - Importance
  
  Their contributions will show the impact they had on the world and why they are so important. This will show their scientific knowledge and genius.
• Joe (Researcher): – How did they live? What was life like for them? Did they have any religious beliefs (religion)?
  
  
  I. Arts
  II. Culture
  III. Religion
  IV. Architecture of the Mayans (Features of their buildings)
  - Importance
  
  Their cultural side will show a different view of them other than their genius is the sciences. This will really show the social side of them.
• Samson (Web-designer): Develop ideas for the website to make it more interesting. Find out other interesting facts about the Mayans Civilization:
  
  
  I. Writing system E.g Maya script
  II. Literacy
  III. Agriculture
  
  Kevin (Group leader): The development of the Mayan Civilization and how they improved and changed:
  
  
  I. Geographic extent of the Mayans civilization, known as the Maya area E.g Why did they live?
  
  II. History
  III. Population
  IV. Political & Economic structures
  
  Examples - Time lines, mind maps, flowcharts.
  
  - Importance
  
  Their development is very important as it would show how they coped with different problems and change to adapt to it.

So this is how we assigned the roles:

• Researchers & surveyors – Joe, Li Wen
• Web designer & Animation – Samson
• Information collators – ALL
• Booklet designers – Li Wen and Kevin
• Comics – Samson and Joe
• Games – Li Wen and Kevin
• Group Journal – ALL

After that meeting, we all felt more prepared and ready for the re-opening of the school as we already had our project workplan ready. So now, we just need to start to think of ideas of product outcomes and most importantly, find a mentor ASAP! All the best!
