After one year gone past, the much-anticipated Projects Competition is finally BACK! This year, I found an amazing group to work with. The group members are all specialised in different areas, hence, we believe our group dynamics will be the key to lead us to success. To begin our project, I will like to introduce our project group 2010:
- Kevin Mak Wen Yang (2P4 10)
- Jaw Li Wen (2P4 08)
- Joe Chua Song Yang (2P2 03)
- Samson Sim (2P2 24)
In order to make our project a success one, we had been brainstorming for weeks since last year October after EOY examinations after we had formed this project group. In the few weeks, we all had different ideas and opinions of what we ought to be doing for our project, hence, there might be some minor diagreements over the project topic.
During the December school holidays last year, our group actually came back to school and discussed for our project topic. In the end, we managed to came out a better idea together after the disagreements. Hence, we all agreed and decided to do on the unique Mayans Civilisation in Category 4: Resource Development.
After much discussion and consideration, we chose upper primary students (Primary 4 to 6), aged from 10 to 12 as our target audience for this project. We feel that students from this age range are most suitable to learn about the Mayans Civilisation as we believe that these students are more matured and sensible and can also understand and think in greater depth in this topic. Therefore, we feel that they are more suitable to learn it as compared to lower primary students who may face some difficulties in learning this topic.
At first, we did not really know what to do with this project topic. But after much discussion and meetings, we all agreed to this topic as we feel that although there are already quite many resources to learn about the Mayans Civilisation, they are actually too wordy and sometimes difficult for the students to understand.
So during the december holidays, we already had our project plan ready and our objectives with the project rationale and our target audience. Most importantly, we had a target to work on as we set our project topic. Hence, before the school re-opened, we had prepared much and would be meeting up with the group more frequently in school.
